Hi, I’m Sara

Illustrator / Animator / Concept artist

I like to represent inner moods
that can’t be described with words,
like “this thing sounds yellow”.

I graduated in 2020 in Illustration & Animation but I already have some years of experience as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer.

I decided to study animation because I love movies and storytelling. In the last three years as a student I learned 2D animation and how to use TV Paint, Dragon Frame, After Effect and Animate. I also gained experience in working with teams, both as an animator and as a director. Some festivals selected my animated major project A to Z and one of them awarded it as a semi-finalist, and last year I did an internship with the animation studio Sentio Space in London and I made for them an animated postcard that they are selling on their website 2050.cards.

Before that I also attended a three-year course in comic-book art at Scuola del Fumetto Palermo, studying with teachers who used to work for Marvel and Disney. Studying comics helped me to develop a strong sense of composition and design, and to understand anatomy, perspective and three-dimensionality. After that I co-founded a self-publishing house for comics with some colleagues, we worked in an office setting and we published, edited, printed and distributed our own comics and took part with our own stand at comic-cons.

As an illustrator I made the covers for a sci-fi novel trilogy, created a mascot for a non-profit organization and made several commissions and portraits.

As a graphic designer, I made some print ready designs like posters, leaflets and t-shirts. I also designed logos and I worked on the cd and vinyl design of a famous Italian rock band Marta sui Tubi.
